This session aims to enhance the skills of special education resource teachers by equipping them with the knowledge and tools necessary to implement the Wilson Reading System (WRS) program. The WRS is for students who require specially designed instruction in reading skills including students with dyslexia. Teachers will explore the why behind the curriculum, how it relates to the science of reading and how it can meet the needs of students with reading disabilities. Teachers will spend time learning how the program is structured, exploring program materials and how to implement the program with a small group of students within existing school schedules. Differentiated support will also be provided to teachers based on knowledge and experience with Wilson.
Learning Intentions: -I am building knowledge about the Wilson Reading System and how I can successfully implement this program with a group of students who need specially designed reading support. -I am learning how the Wilson Reading System is structured and how it supports students with reading difficulties and incorporates the science of reading.
